Extracurricular

I have been actively engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities that have enriched my personal and professional growth. These include attending the police academy, volunteering at a local educational institution, being part of a Rugby team, being employed with a thriving Japanese Ramen franchise, being involved in a marketing team, coaching at the house league Silver Knights basketball, contributing to a fitness club, and Scouts.

About my extracurricular

Police Academy

I was honored to be accepted into the york region police Academy, where I was able to learn and enhance my problem-solving skills, collaboration, leadership, and most importantly learning about the attributes I can bring to our community. This academy taught me what ways I could bring my skills into my community, which led me to engage in some more community engagement at my elementary school (Bond Lake PS) since this elementary school has done so much for me I wanted to pay my respect to my old teacher with a visit and to help them out.

Volunteering

While at the elementary school, I was able to teach younger children my skills and what my experiences were like in high school, for instance telling them the importance of time management and responsibility while at high school. Additionally, I stumbled across a few groups of children who needed help with art, where I was able to share my skills in the field of arts. Moreover, I was able to volunteer at the school gym class where I was able to teach younger children the fundamentals of basketball, in hopes of allowing them to unlock new skill sets.

Rugby Team

During my high school years, I was given a rare chance to be on my school's first-ever rugby team. Despite my limited knowledge of the sport at the beginning, the coach saw something unique in me—my ability to quickly adapt. I swiftly learned the fundamentals of rugby and soon became an integral part of the team. This experience not only honed my athletic prowess but also played a crucial role in the development of essential life skills. As a member of the rugby team, I had the opportunity to improve my collaboration, social, leadership, and adaptability skills. This journey extended beyond mastering the game, serving as a transformative experience that contributed to both personal growth and the success of the team.

Employee/ Marketing

I began my working career at the restaurant when I was 14 years old, initially for the experiences it brought. However, my perspective quickly matured as I recognized the significance of working in shaping my future. This realization prompted me to approach my job with a newfound respect and seriousness, leading me to take notes on essential skills for personal and professional growth. Throughout this journey, I honed the ability to follow rules and orders diligently. Interestingly, I also found myself involved in the restaurant's marketing team, taking the role of a photographer, video editor, and photoshopping. Through these endeavors, I had the opportunity to enhance and apply both my collaborative and independent skills.

Coaching

Another extracurricular activity that I was involved in was working at the Sliver Knights basketball as a coach, I was able to teach younger players the fundamentals of basketball. There I was able to further enhance my leadership, collaboration, and responsibility skills, this is because the children who attend are counting on me to show up every week and to show the professionalism of a coach, and mentor. Moreover, I had to collaborate with my partner that I was paired with as we had to prepare new lessons every week to teach our players, despite our educational commitments.

Fitness Club

In my involvement with the fitness club, I went beyond personal health goals by actively assisting newcomers. I took on the role of guiding and teaching, sharing insights into the various uses and benefits of different machines. The club's supportive environment provided an opportunity to not only enhance physical well-being but also develop social skills. Engaging with strangers in a safe and welcoming setting enabled me to overcome any initial nervousness and become adept at effective communication in diverse social contexts.

Scouts

During my time in the scouts, I was able to learn many soft and hard skills, as I participated in their camping trips. Some skills that are learned are collaboration, leadership, communication, responsibility, and organization. Hard skills included, basic survival skills like cooking, campfires, shelter building, moreover, the ability to use the axe, saw, and knife.
